Bringing software requirements into a consumer-protection setting.
An Online Dispute Resolution platform brings a legal service into a digital setting. My work on Thailand’s platform concerned software requirement specifications: defining what the software needed to do.
The requirements stage
Software requirement specifications give a project a written account of what its software needs to do. For an online dispute-resolution service, that definition connects the purpose of the service with the software intended to support it.
My role with UNCTAD
In April 2023, as a consultant to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, I presented the specifications alongside the UNCTAD team. In my account shared on 27 April, I thanked Thailand’s Office of the Consumer Protection Board, OCPB, for the opportunity.
Legal services and software planning
The consumer-protection setting connected my law background with my technology career. Dispute resolution was the subject; a requirements document was the working material.
For organisations considering a digital service, this is a useful starting point for a project conversation: the intended service and what its software will need to support.
